SNRT2000 - Detailed description of functional modules

Dispatch Center

Dispatch Center is equipped with a computer system that displays the location of all trams along with deviations from the timetable on a digital map of the city. The dispatcher has the ability to establish audio connection to any tram or group of trams (e.g. trams driving on specific line, or in a designated area), as well as send text messages which are displayed on a driver's panel.

Digital map of the city and voice communications module are displayed in a Dispatch Center on a remote X-Terminal using X11R6 technology.
Remote access to the interactive map, away from the dispatcher's station is also possible.

Traffic Control Center

SNRT2000 is managed by central server that runs dedicated software. It is based on a relational database and is divided into components that use dedicated network protocol. The components are based on the APP-COMMON backbone, using PRO-PAN transport environment. Such software design allows fine-tuning of all aspects of the system according to Warsaw Tramways requirements, and implementing necessary updates without the risk of system failure. Reliability is futher increased through the use of redundant components.

Communication Center

The Communication Center includes Data Transmission Center (data transmission between vehicles and Dispatch Center) and Voice Communication Center (audio transmission between the dispatcher and drivers). Communication center and radio base station are located on the building's roof in the center of Warsaw.

Depot Systems

SNRT2000 provides connectivity with four tramway depots, where WLAN networks were installed in order to automatically exchange data between on-board computers and local servers.

Vehicle Equipment

Each of the 500+ trams is equipped with a set of mobile devices (Vehicular Units) used for data and voice communications between vehicles and Dispatch Center. Each set includes on-board computer, radio, duplexer, isolated voltage converter, integrated driver's panel with a microphone, integrated railway certified antenna and additional modules such as GSM modem, GPS receiver, traffic light priority transmitter or WLAN card.

Vehicular Unit's on-board computer with additional modules is installed in a 19" rack housing.

ZPM200

Driver's job is supported with a help of the Integrated Driver's Panel (ZPM200). With ZPM200 a driver is able to establish voice communication with Dispatch Center in three modes: normal, emergency and alarm, as well as receive text messages taht are displayed on the built-in LCD graphic display. The display is also used to inform the driver about scheduled departures from the stops and possible deviations from the timetable.

Traffic Lights Priority Transmitter

Tramways are equipped with TX-U-100 transmitter designed to work with traffic lights controller within the ZSZR system (Integrated Traffic Management System) implemented in Warsaw. Transmitters by sending information about route and status of the vehicle (eg. "delayed") to the traffic lights controller, allow faster passing through the intersection in order to reduce any delays in relation to the planned schedules.

SNRT2000 equipment is certified according to PN-EN 50155 and PN-EN 50121-3-2 standards.

SNRT2000 provides:
  • current and past information about entire transport network,
  • current and past information about every tramway (status, localization, deviations from timetable),
  • current and past information about movement breakdowns, accidents and malfunctions,
  • graphic presentation of a vehicle location on a map,
  • sending and receiving emergency alerts,
  • two-way audio communication with a driver,
  • audio and text messages to selected group of vehicles,
  • reports generation,
  • statistical analysis tools,
  • automatic vehicle location by the GPS system and by other verifying information,
  • automatic calculation of timetable deviations and sending it to the dispatch center,
  • automatic data transmission between vehicle and a depot data system during arrival and departure,
  • storing defined events in internal memory,
  • possibility of controlling tramway's other appliances (eg. traffic light priority transmitter, video recorder, passenger counting sensors).

Benefits of using SNRT2000:
  • increased driver's and passengers safety
  • shorter breakdown and accident recovery time
  • increased punctuality
  • complete set of data for the evaluation of transport tasks realization
